Will Tuck
Will Tuck's paintings delve in to personal psyches, raid history
paintings and work with the knowledge and skills of a past age but
with the technology of the present. Tuck ultimately toys with the idea
of being a modern master in a world given over to cheap thrills and
fast consumption. He becomes the ringmaster of the world he creates
and surveys, as he manipulates, teases
and toyes with his subjects, content and language of paint.
A former grafitti artist before going to art college, Tuck used toride
the trains up and down the country where he developed his technique of
speedily executed tags and signatory styles in railway sidings during
long nights. In contrast, Tuck's large paintings are meticulously
painted and each painting often takes months ofpainstaking and labored
work to complete. Tuck completed an MA in painting at The Royal
Academy Schools in 2005 and he is one of "The New London School" of
artists using highly developed skills engaging with the human
condition.
